A couple of threads at Latarnia have gone missing. Threads throughout the Yuku system have gone missing, too, in recent days. Yuku is trying to fix this problem and hopefully recover all lost threads. But if you notice something is gone, please report it here.

So far, these are the threads that have disappeared from Latarnia:

"Please Kill Me" in our Pages of Pleasure forum.
"Sex" in our Latarnia Guide to Living forum.

NEW POLL: 10 or 20 posts in a page?

When we became Yuku-ized, the post count on each page changed from 20 to 10, which seems to be the default setting for Yuku boards. I've kept this setting because I'm fine with it and it may, just may, speed up the loading of a page. However, I'm also curious to know if 20 posts per page would be better overall. In a long thread, you'd be scrolling down more, instead of clicking on the next page as frequently. So the question is would you rather have 10 or 20--or perhaps...

I'm gradually enabling polls in ALL forums. This way, a poll can be taken on a specific theme related to the forum topic. Once enabled, you will be able to see a "New Poll" link on the upper right of your Latarnia screen below the Latarnia banner and Latarnia Forums line--right below "Search Topic."

I admit that I am a chat room junkie, its always interesting to interact with people in real time even if the discussions are off topic & random. I know that the Classic Monsters forum has a chat function, ever thought about adding one here?

Report any Yuku glitches here

Boards that have migrated to Yuku have reported various glitches, usually small, that errupt from time to time. I've already noticed a couple, but am waiting to see if they return.

Anyway, this thread is for any glitches that you experience with Yuku. I can hand over these experiences to Yuku support in the hope that they will be dealt with.

Okay, the forced migration has taken place. The old look is gone and here's the new one I selected from the available Yuku skins. While I could have kept some of the old look (the color scheme), the formatting of the posts themselves looked sloppy and didn't fit well with the Yuku "template." It's not that bad. If you'll look at the top of your screen you will notice a 'button' labled "NAVIGATION". Clicking on this will get you a pull down menu of all your new, neat, Yuku utils and what not.

Notice the "EDIT SKINS" button next to your avatar? This will allow you to customize the look of your profile. For a sample of what can be done click on my avatar to see my profile page.

Latarnia to become Yuku-ized!

I received a message today from Yuku that the Latarnia message board will be migrated from ezboard to Yuku sometime this week. I've requested a delay, but such a request may not get through, so be aware that you may wake up one morning to find this place looking somewhat different, hopefully not considerably so.

I went to view it and there were no threads listed. Went to another folder, everything seemed fine, and now there's only THREE threads listed.

Is it just on my end?

EDIT: Nevermind. I went and retoggled my read settings and everything seems to be okay now.

Just about every other genre is represented at Latarnia with it's own specific sub-folder except science-fiction. Wouldn't it be nice if sci-fi had it's own discussion area?

I've noticed that instead of the usual "all in one" page giving links to the various aspects of Latarnia, typing "latarnia.com" into one's address bar now brings you to a page where you have to click on a picture to get to a page containing all the links. There's also the matter of the new page's use of an embedded midi soundfile, which I imagine would increase the page's loading time for those using dialup connections.

Personally, I find this annoying and think...

20 page limit for folders

Folks should be aware that ezboard has a twenty page limit for folders. Once a thread is added that would start page 21, the end thread gets deleted by ezboard's script. We have a couple of folders that have reached the 20 page mark, so if anyone wants to save old material, they should do so as soon as possible.

Of course, there was the ezboard hack of a couple of years ago that deleted many folders....

Has anyone been having problems logging in?

It's been a while since I logged in but, wow, today I kept getting a page saying there was an error and I should re-input my information (which I wont do as I also get a lot of ad pages that ask the same and I am never certain what is legit with EZboard) and even when I did finally seem to get logged in I must have had to click through three pages of ads (all asking for my personal information).

Is this something new?

It's time for our annual contribution drive to keep Latarnia pop-up and ezboard ad free. Our gold community subscription expires on May 3. There are two goals to be met. A six-month subscription is $163, and a year subscription is $293. These are the current rates, which fluctuate a bit depending on usage.
