Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (Poster)

I found this interesting looking poster at www.moviegoods.com and was fascinated by two things: the look of the Wolf Man and the lady in the gown with blood on her shoulder. The Wolf Man looks like a Naschy lycanthrope. The lady is nowhere close to the images of Illona Massey on the American posters. Looks like whoever drew this had to throw in some extra eroticism. Anyone know if this was for a re-release or the original play?...

Dracula- Browning or Melford?

Ok, this was mentioned in another thread so let's see how many prefer one against the other. Although the Browning version has Lugosi and Frye, I enjoy the atmosphere of the Spanish version. The zoom up to Dracula on the staircase, the fog with him appearing from his coffin, the zombie vampire wives, and just the overall feel make this a more enjoyable viewing for me than the Lugosi film.

Odd how the type font is different on some threads than others, but maybe it's me, on my 4th J&B drink.

Today I picked up, from Universal DVD,

The Boris Karloff Collection.

And,

The Bela Lugosi Collection.

Not sure if I've seen most of the movies here, but I probably have years and years ago on TV.
My father has the Lugosi set, and we watched The Black Cat, which is a great one.

I would imagine that most here would agree that when it came to classic horror in 1930's & 40's Universal was second to none it's impressive list of not just horror films but iconic horror characters have left a legacy that can still be felt today. Universal won't be giving us any new releases but it will release THE MUMMY SPECIAL EDITION (Universal Legacy Series) which will contain a bunch of extra stuff Commentaries, photo gallery, and poster gallery. Plus, three documentary features: He Who Made Monsters - Life and Legacy of Jack Pierce, Unraveling the Legacy of the Mummy, and Universal Horror. Some interesting stuff indeed but I much rather see many of the missing Universal owned...

"Frankenstein" and "Bride" re-re-re (...) released in France

On June 25th, both "Frankenstein" and its sequel were re-(etc.)released in France. By "released", I mean a national re-release, in several movie theaters (three in Paris). And "The Invisible Man" is scheduled to appear in next August. A great tribute to James Whale, and enthusiastic reviews in practically every magazine, newspaper, or French website. Three new posters were printed.

The Man of 1000 Faces on DVD

Haven't seen any threads mentioning this, but the Lon Chaney Sr. biopic Man of 1000 Faces will be available from Universal on June 24th. I have waited some time for this film to be released on dvd. Too bad they couldn't throw in the AMC or was it TCM biography on Chaney Sr. that ran a few years back about the same time they ran that London After Midnight re-construction movie. That was touching stuff. Oh well, this will do for now. Thought I'd let you guys know!

I stumbled upon a trailer for this film and also a beautiful tribute video to actress Maria Montez on You Tube last night. The funny thing is that I have never seen this movie or even heard of Maria Montez. Now I am in love and wish to know a bit more about her and that film Cobra Woman. Is it worth checking out? Ok with apparently Universal deciding against releasing any new classic horror/Sci Fi DVD sets I thought it fun to make a list of what's still needs be release by them on DVD. So here's a list of the Missing In Action Universal Horror/Sci Fi Classic titles includes Paramount and others they own. Anyone know of others I should add?

Mine was Lon Chaney Jr. in THE MUMMY'S TOMB. I just liked the way the Mummy looked in that film. I know that Kharis is supposed to be all gray, but I saw a painted Billiken Kharis model in the Gremlins from the Garage website and I liked the white hair and off-white bandages, so I made this model with that in mind.

Someone at CHFB mentioned about the need for a Rondo Hatton Box Set which got me thinking would enough people be interested in buying a set devoted to him?

Films I suggested that would be good for such a set are HOUSE OF HORRORS, THE SPIDER WOMAN STRIKES BACK, THE JUNGLE CAPTIVE and two films already released on DVD THE PEARL OF DEATH and THE BRUTE MAN. Now I would jump all over this if it were to be released.
