I had never seen the HAUNTED PALACE until this Halloween courtesy of MGM Midnite double DVD and boy did I enjoy this film Vincent Price is great as always and Lon Chaney, Jr. does a nice job here too. Ok this not really an Edgar Allan Poe it actually is a H.P. Lovecraft story but the film does credit Poe (as Edgar Allen Poe) and obvious attempt to capitalize on the success of all the previous AIP/Price/Corman/Poe films.

Which of the films did RC do commentary tracks for? I bought all of these on R2 some years ago -- zero extras, except trailers -- only to find R1's were sometime a bit more interesting (shock, horror). I don't suppose anyone has MP3s of any of these? It's not like I didn't buy the damn films!

The Terror on TCM

Last night I recorded TCM's broadcast of "The Terror." WOW! I have never seen the film look so good. And it was widescreen. I have no clue if the aspect ratio was correct, so perhaps someone else who saw the broadcast can relate back to the forum.

TCM also ran "A Bucket of Blood" on the same double bill and it was also widescreen.

I remember seeing the Goodtimes vhs release of Pit and the Pendulum. The back cover stated the film was rated "R." Was that the rating the film carried upon its initial release or was the film rerated for home video? I don't have it with me to check, but I thought the MGM dvd has a PG or PG-13 rating to it. Just something that has boggled my brain.
