OK, I want to buy a dvd of this film but i'm wondering which is the best dvd to get.
I read Squonks reviews of the older dvds in the archive folder (thanks Squonk) but there are two new players on the market.
The GRINDHOUSE double feature from VCI which reports to be in widescreen and the UK disc.
Does anyone know how these dvds compare?

I'm hoping the UK dvd is as good because it's cheap and has a better cover.

NIGHTMARE

I ordered this film from Netflix, and it has many eighties horror stars including Tiny Tim who puts on a stellar performance as a crazy person,. I haven't watched the entire film. Yet I highly recommend this film for those that enjoy XMAS EVIL, and various sundry eighties cheeze offerings.
Tiny Tim really steals the show, yet he is benevolent, and I am surprised that he would take on such a sinister role as he was a deeply christian person, yet He seems to have
dropped the whole...

DEVIL'S RAIN (1975)

I caught up with one of my favorite films that played on Elvira's MOVIE MACABRE Show back in the early 1980's, DEVIL'S RAIN with Ernest Borgnine doing too good of a job playing disciple of Satan as he leads a cult of Satan worshipers somewhere in the Southwest US.

Admittedly not the greatest movie from this era but a great cast with Borgnine (as mentioned above) William Shatner, Tom Skerritt, Eddie Albert, Ida Lupino, Joan...

I watched this film a few nights ago for the first time and I gotta say I was impressed.
The film is better than I thought it would be.

Where LAST HOUSE failed to move me this film cemented my hatred for mankind.
I was surprised that the vengeance scenes were't gorier...ok the castration was great.
But the last two guys could have been more gruesome imo.
Still...loved the ending.

This is a good film. (It helped to erase SPOOKIES from my mind)

Picking through a stack of discs last night after work. Happened upon Flesh Eater from Bill Hinzman. He was the first of the undead to appear in the original Night of the Living Dead film who then chases Barbara. This puppy is all his and he basically rehashes his cemetary ghoul schtick and leads a growing army of cheapo zombies through the Pennsylvania countryside. I have always loved this incredibly low budget flick, having first seen it on VHS many years ago. Bad acting, cheap gore...

Well I picked up a couple of DVDs at Wal-Fart this last week for $5 a pop. Happy Birthday to Me is from Anchor Bay and was created by the director of My Bloody Valentine. Solid slasher fare with Melissa Sue Anderson baring at least some bra covered boobs. NIce music which the dvd box declares is the original music restored for this release! I have no idea otherwise as it has been years since I had seen the film. The story mixes a bit of surgerical mumbo jumbo involving Anderson and someone...

This film is one of the worst things that I have ever seen in my life. I am scratching my head as to why Tony Curtis and Susan Strasburg would involve themselves in this dog of a film. The first part of the film has inane dialogue, and even worse acting. I feel that the last 30 minutes has any value period! It also exploits and make native Americans
look real stupid, I guess that Susan Strasburg, and Tony Curtis were hard up for money as this film is worse than the worst Movie Of...

I just watched the Vipco release and thought...wouldn't it be cool if Code Red could put this out right?
The acting is atrocious but still I thoroughly enjoyed this slasher.

I rented the aforementioned title, a very chilling horror film from the MASTERS OF HORROR series. It was chilling without being a bloodfest/gore/snuff film. You know much of the films that we enjoy here @Latania are not so superficial as SAW and all its progeny, or Final Destination etc. The film is usually available @ Hollywood Video etc. The film has a plot and is frightening at certain points, yet without going too overboard with it. Hey guys. I watched the American film SCARECROW, and I found it to be really creepy, and for the late 80's fake government conspiracy crap Knight Rider type of crap.
It is a very creepy film. The actors are fairly believable,]The film has many scarecrows, which either kill the parachutist.or in other sordid ways. I felt that the film is much better than Blair Witch Project. Does anyone have any opinions regarding this film.?

Code Red is releasing the DVD of the film that launched the career of Candice Rialson on October 13th, and it's restricted to 1500 copies.

Mill Creek is now re-releasing material that BCI did. The Crown films, and the Ultraman complete set, and for CHEAP! I wonder if they are craming multiple films on one side of a disc like they usually do?

Saw there was a small thread elsewhere in Latarnia-land, so I thought I'd start one in the right folder for the modern times. I have fond recollections of loving this one as a small child, though any details of it are lost in the dark corners of my brain. Somehow, SLITHIS and ALLIGATOR are connected in my memories too, must have rented them endlessly as a wee one. Anyone else have something to say about this winner?
