Pupi Avati Comes to Houston in September

The Museum of Fine Arts is having a Pupi Avati retrospect. They are showing "The House With Laughing Windows" and "Zeder" aka "Revenge of the Dead" among others. The director himself will be appearing on 19 and 20 September for showings of "The Heart is Elsewhere" and "The Story of Boys and Girls."

I watched GHOSTHOUSE the other night, thanks to a trade with a pal from here, and man did I enjoy it.
The acting was pretty bad but it's still a great haunted house flick.

Is GHOSTHOUSE II, III & 4 anywhere near as fun and cheesy as the first?

Last night I poured some J&B, quite a bit really, and put on one of my favorite movies, Umberto Lezi's "Almost Human", with Tomas Milian. This movie is great! Milian is awesome, and makes this a classic, and my favorite film of his. I have the No Shame DVD, and it is great(I didn't see any J&B though). I heard they went out of business, which if true, is a darn shame. I have many of their DVDs, and they are all great, though I was disappointed that...

Okay guys I will admit to being totally in the dark about this simply gorgeous Italian/Franch actress; Edwige Fenech. In fact I didn't even know who she was in Hostel II @! So, now I am seeing alot of her sexy comedies and such appear and was wondering what are some of her best films to seek out? Maybe some of you authorities can help me out.

Redemption USA will re-release NUDE FOR SATAN and REINCARNATION OF ISABEL (under the Dutch DVD title BLACK MAGIC RITES) in a couple months. Hopefully (but unlikely) they will be new anamorphic transfers.

Not sure if anyone here has picked it up yet, or has been wondering if it's more representative of the actual film's image, but I wanted to post about this for fellow Latarnians.

Came back from seeing INFERNO tonight on the big screen (well, it wasn't really that big, but it was a film print I saw), and after taking a look back at the Whiggles comparison of the recent Italian dvd vs the AB/BU dvds, I'm willing to say 100% that the Italian dvd is closest in...

Dario Argento's Four Flies on Grey Velvet

For anyone interested, a German label called Retro Films recently released
what appears to be the world's first ever uncut (at least most complete)
DVD version of Dario Argento's most hard to find film, "Four Flies on Grey Velvet".

It was apparently sourced from a rather worn German theatrical print, with missing scenes
added in from a different source (video tape?). The anamorphic widescreen picture
looks pretty good for most of the film,...

Having a running John Phillip Law retrospective over here and finally broke out my Italian language video of this, fullscreen with no subtitles. Very deeply twisted movie, with a downright disturbing performance by Gordon Mitchell as the resident Shuffling Igor Type butler/assistant who is brutal rapist and necrophile. Knowing that was actually Gordon Mitchell -- hero of so many peplum roles and more than his share of spaghettis -- was what was most disturbing. I've seen him as a villain...
