That's usually the case after one of those remastered MGM prints has aired on cable/satellite-ha ha. Sometimes it does ring true but not always..

Let's see, off the top of my head, I've got to mention the following :

VAMPIRE CIRCUS - I've been waiting for a decent version of this one to be made available on this side of the pond for DECADES now.
Going all the way back to the days of VHS for Pete's sake!

THE BOOGENS - One of my fav, under-appreciated early '80s flicks.
I have the tape that was released back in '97 or '98, but can't play the bloody thing 'cause I don't...
