It's great movie, but sadly it's the only one worth watching in Pastore's filmography.

I'd say that Deep Red is my favorite giallo. It has it all, sexual weirdness, screwy killer, terrific visuals, a sense of humor, a strong lead actor, and a slight supernatural overtone. And, one of the best soundtracks I've heard, period. Besides Deep Red, I enjoy much of Dario's other giallo's. Tenebre ranks very high in my book. I also really enjoy Don't Torture A Duckling by Lucio Fulci. That movie has some beautifully disturbing moments. And the blonde girl, played by...

THE BEYOND and DELLAMORTE, DELLAMORE run neck-n-neck with me. Both are amazing european zombie

BLOOD AND BLACK LACE would be first. Superb on every level(acting,direction,lighting,music,etc).Francesca Ungaro(Isabella)is one of the most gorgeous actresses I've ever seen,and this is perhaps her only film.Other faves would be HATCHET FOR THE HONEYMOON,THE NIGHT EVELYN CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE,TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE(maybe not even a giallo,but a great movie)and all of Dario Argento's efforts.

I'm also a big fan of Fulci's giallos.....i frickin love 'Don't Torture a Ducking'.....i really like 'lizard'.... especially the dog scene....and 'seven notes in black' aka 'the psychic' is a great flick as well.
as far as Argento, i think 'Profondo Rosso' is his best.... but i also really dig 'Opera' and 'Bird with the Crystal Plumage',.....it's sad that Argento lost his groove as far as subtlety is concerned.

That is easily explained. In the 1980s, the market for Italian films, for various reasons, shrunk dramatically, and very few productions were able to get major financing. People like Fulci, who had previously been solid midrange directors, found themselves...

Supernatural giallo?

I haven't watched a ton of giallos, but I think it's a toss up between BLOOD & BLACK LACE, LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN and DEEP RED. I've only seen LIZARD once, as I got it a couple of months ago, but it's one of the rare films I almost started again when it ended -- been a while since I felt like that. One of the first films of Lucio Fulci's that really made me notice his artistic abilities -- and wonder how he ended up making stuff...

My absolute favorite would have to be PROFONDO ROSSO, which was one of the first ones I ever saw. I love the Goblin music, the splashy gore and the all around mood of the film. My other favorites would be TENEBRE and BLOOD AND BLACK LACE, but PROFONDO ROSSO is tops for me.

My favorite, bar none, is "Blood and Black Lace." Everything works for me - the actors, the colors, the music (I LOVE the music), everything. Any film with Cameron Mitchell, Eva Bartok AND Harriet White does it for me.

THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE, the first giallo I saw, stylish and scintilating with a semial Morricone score. TENEBRE has everything: style (again!), music, a couple of unexpected shocks at the end, and an intense Tony Franciosa. That scene at night with the traveling camera outside, then inside the house, accompanied by Goblin's pulsating music, has to be one of the coolest moods of advancing death presented in film. Other gialli: A few with Fenech, like MRS. WARDH, are also...

I'm picking 'what have you done to Solange'..... because it's got it all, murder, vaginal stabbings, abortion, a pervert peeping on school girls in the shower, a twist ending that actually makes sense.....what else does a movie need?
