Roberto Gavaldon) was nominated as Best Foreign Language Film. Then Tlayucan (1961, dir. Luis Alcoriza) was nominated and Animas Trujano (1962, dir. Ismael Rodriguez) was nominated, which was pretty remarkable (3 movies in four years), even though none of three won. It was a while before the Oscars looked at Mexico again.

BTW, Robinson Crusoe (1954, dir.
