Hi. I was wondering if anyone knows where this film was made. I was guessing Madrid but wasn't sure. I was also wondering what the names of the two different castles were that are featured in the films opening.

Hi, NaschysDracula, and welcome to the forum. I probably have the info written down somewhere, but am not able to locate it at present. I believe the house where Dracula was filmed had some Franco connection--not Jess Franco, but Generalissimo Franco.

Is that not the epitome of all horror castles or what?! Sitting up on that mountain--perfecto! I love that shot in the second screen cap.

Speaking of noteworthy castles/homes in Naschy movies, I caught that the house in BLUE EYES is the same house in PEOPLE WHO OWN THE DARK. It's that
incredible woodwork that made it really obvious. Any other films shot in that house?

Mirek. What film is The Strange Loves of the Vampires? Sounds like something I would LOVE to see.

Pretty sad if I'm reading this correctly:
http://www.abc.es/hemeroteca/historico-12-01-2007/abc/Madrid/el-claustro-del-canto-del-pico-comienza-su-traslado-hacia-valencia_153877210063.html According to this report the Canto de Pico is being disassembled and moved to Valencia. So another Spanish horror movie landmark--well, not gone--but displaced. But it won't be the same if it's not on that mountain. Mirek |

NaschysDracula wrote: It's a Leon Klimovsky film from 1975 with Emma Cohen and Carlos Ballesteros. Emma is frequently undressed. I'd have to watch it again to authoritively state something, but I remember it being romantic with a nod to COUNT DRACULA'S GREAT LOVE. There's a party scene that reminded me of Polanski's FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS. Klimovsky thought highly of this film. Mirek |

Now, if I'm reading this correctly, a replica will be built in its place!

Very cool pictures, NaschysDracula. Thanks for posting these. It is a shame that they are moving the house to a different location. I hate seeing historical
sites tampered with.

Thanks Mirek for the article. From what I read also it sounds like they are going to build a replica in it's place also now that it earned it's place
in Spains history. That was very interesting to read. Many thanks again.

Really, really cool | ||

The pictures of that house are just amazing. It's interesting seeing how they lined up that particular angle and shot it against a rising (or setting) sun
to make it look more ominous and difficult to size up in the mind's eye. As they shot it the implied size is much, much larger, and I am intrigued by the
"rocks" in the movie version, they almost look painted, like some kind of a matte overlay. Excellent work!

Here are two more really awsome pictures I found. Especially the one during sunset. Kinda makes me wanna go wait for Mr. Naschy to rise up in the cellar. I am
an avid collector of Dracula films and memorabilia. I have hundreds of Dracula films, several photos, signed photos and film merchandise collected over the
years. I am a huge Christopher Lee fan and of course
his Dracula character. Mr. Naschy was an excellent Dracula in my opinion. The only thing I can say bad about his Dracula, is that he never returned for the part. I am so depressed. I loved Dracula's Great Love and I am getting excited even more waiting for the new digital transfer of picture and sound from BCI/Eclipse. Does anyone know if there was a soundtrack recorded or have it on tape or cd? Enjoy these photos. One of the photo gives you more of a look as it sits atop the hilll. In the night shot to the left, notice the two sightseers walking around. David.

Wow, looks a lot different in "real life." The tactics used to create the atmosphere in the movie worked quite well. It would be nice to have a short
documentary with Naschy and any living cast to gather at the "castle" to discuss the film.

Yeah Cushing... the actors reminiscing on location makes the best extra.
