Having a running John Phillip Law retrospective over here and finally broke out my Italian language video of this, fullscreen with no subtitles. Very deeply
twisted movie, with a downright disturbing performance by Gordon Mitchell as the resident Shuffling Igor Type butler/assistant who is brutal rapist and
necrophile. Knowing that was actually Gordon Mitchell -- hero of so many peplum roles and more than his share of spaghettis -- was what was most disturbing.
I've seen him as a villain before but never like that, he plays a similar role in FRANKENSTEIN'S CASTLE OF FREAKS but this time it was Gordon Mitchell
unleashed & they trot out Olinka in her mini dress. Yikes!!
Law was good too, went over the top in some of the painting scenes but that's John Phillip Law for you. The hero is also an odd looking creature whom I'd never encountered before. Very freaky little movie.
