There are easier ways to open up a bottle of champagne but I like the death of the universe organ score and the ending messes with my mind.

Sqounkamatic, I fast forwarded through the porn till I got to the close to the ending. I stopped the film just as the dead were arising from their graves. I was really busy this weekend. I will listen for the organ/synth stuff that you mention. Thanks Randall

Bad movie but Laura Gemser makes worth watching. Also when ever I see this film that porno actor Mark Shannon reminds me of former Major League Baseball player Keith Hernandez.

Yeah Luis, I agree with you. I don't mind a bit of porn with my horror, yet porn masquerading as horror is tedious to me. Especially with the late seventies, early eighties type of stuff.
It makes me wonder whether to watch by myself, or with other Euro-horrorphiles that understand the genre without holding judgement. I really think that they really went over the top with films such as FEMALE VAMPIRE,  VAMPIRE LESBOS,etc I feel that if I want porn I can watch brand new digital stuff with more attractive actors and actresses that surpass all this roller disco cum Xanadu type stuff. What could be worse than watching grainy-ass porn with out-dated styles and the like. I will probably watch this EROTIC NIGHTS film alone, and probably skip to the ending, unless the soundtrack jumps out at me as wonderful. cheers Randall |

This topic reminds me of a friend of mine who recently watched THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and said it was unbearably sadistic and violent.Well,it's supposed to be a massacre... |

Very good point. Actually, the official title of the hardcore English version is SEXY NIGHTS OF THE LIVING DEAD, which is maybe even more to the point. When I used to work for Aristide back in the late 90s, a master and several dupes of it were piled up in the office. I always thought EROTIC NIGHTS... was the softcore edit.

I wasn't expecting CB DEMILLES TEN COMMANDMENTS OR ADVENTURE OF MILO AND OTIS. Yet I watch these films for the Chills, not bumpy-ass pillars of porn from Italian triple xxx yesteryear. I know that I am not the only one who feels this way. And it is not because I am a overly pious individual, it's just that I want more horror than porn. Thats all Sri Sweetwhitekitten.

There was an expurgated edition available, and I often wish I had bought that one instead.
The one great moment in the film is when the zombies first appear on the beach on the island. |

Yeah I would like to see that version as well. I will watch the whole thing anyhow. It's just tedious for me, as I have roomates that are not as much of "Free Spirits as I am .

There are some quite eerie moments in the last half hour or so of this film.
The first time I saw the movie was via the German DVD release from Laser Paradise, which contained a composite cut of the movie, with the hardcore footage inserted from a different source, and was dubbed into German. I'd been trying to track the movie down for the best part of a decade, and when I saw the film I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. To be honest, I'm still not sure how I feel about the film: it seems oddly disjointed and is one of the few films of this genre that I'd say are truly dreamlike. I love the score too. ____________________

I can't make up my mind on this title. I've seen too many zombie movies that are worse to be sure. But I also agree that the porn is rather pathetic, and I'm not the biggest Laura Gemser fan either.
I waited so long to get a copy of the full version, then watched it once and now the DVD sits among the many that I'll never watch again. Armand It puts the lotion on it's skin.

It didn't hold up as well for me this time, for some reason. Poor 'ol Mark seemed to be having a really tough time with a bad case of the bendables..

The German DVD was pretty dire but it was part of the first batch of non-Region 1 non-NTSC discs I bought through Xploited Cinema when I first got my
multiregion player (along with the Laser Paradise discs of PORNO HOLOCAUST and their once-rare now worthless EMANUELLE IN AMERICA, the Russian disc of
DEGRADATION OF EMANUELLE, DIAL HELP, ALL THE COLORS OF THE DARK (Marketing Film's disc) and one or two others I can't recall now.

i know this sounds like i'm making it up, but i JUST today told my wife that Erotic NOTLD is my favorite zombie porno. alternately, Porno Holocaust is my
least favorite zombie porno
i think the zombie scenes and the isolated setting, atmosphere and vague voodoo trappings are all extremely effective. i even like the wrap-around loony bin scenes. the sex is absolutely ugly and awful, however (and doesn't even have any anal...how boring!) i's really like to see this with the sex cut out. OUT, not just the softcore version. i really think it's D'Amato's finest hour, maybe slightly behind Death Smiles At Murder, but the sex throws it off. |
