After many, many years since my last visit, I'm hoping (fingers crossed) to be able to travel to Europe with my family sometime in the near future. Naturally, I'd like to sneak in visits to as many important Euro horror locations as possible while there. At the top of my list is Toledo, Spain, where portions of Bava's LISA AND THE DEVIL were shot. If anyone is familiar with the city or has been there and can point me in the right direction to some of the locations, I'd appreciate it. (I know that some of Lisa's initial wanderings were actually shot in Faleria, Italy, which is also someplace I'd love to visit.) The cathedral at the beginning is obviously the easiest place to find, but I'd like to find the following spots as well:
- The place where they created the fresco of the devil for the film
- The shop where Lisa first meets Leandro
- The place where Lisa later meets Leandro while he's carrying the dummy of Carlo
- The location of Carlo's fatal plunge down the stairs (in his commentary, Tim Lucas says this appears to have been shot in the "Gritos Mountains" (sp?), but it looks to me like it's still in the city)
Also, while researching the city's Wikitravel page, I came upon this:
I'm SO tempted to edit that to add "If you do become lost, DO NOT accept a ride from a wealthy couple and their chauffeur in an antique car."
Finally, does anyone know where I can obtain a life-sized dummy of Espartaco Santoni?
