There is no stopping the leviathan cycle of assembly line Hollywood remakes either on the big or small screen. So, if you could control what Hollywood produced, what five movies/series would you like to see get the remake treatment? What spin (if any) would you put on the story/plot? CGI or old school SFX? I know what I'd do. I like SF so my five would lean toward that genre. You can see outlines of my five movies/series here. If the link to the old Mise-en-scene Crypt blog doesn't work try the new one, here. (You'll have a chuckle at my top two.) This being the HORROR sub-folder which five genre movies, or series, would you breath new life into with a blockbuster remake?

THE HILLS HAVE EYES-yeah, it's already been remade and there's even a sequel to the remake, but all i want is a version where the baby dies. i'm not asking for much. THE GORE GORE GIRLS-tied for my fave HG film with Wizard Of Gore, and since that already has a silly remake, this one might be next. for slumming comedian cameo i want Dave Attell.i want some nice skanky strippers and maybe John Waters as Gentry KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK-not really a remake, but a "companion film" THE CRAMPS MEET THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK! RAW FORCE-an updating of the kung fu/zombie/cannibal/what the *@ film with Jackie Chan in Cameron Mitchell role. i don't know why, just sounds like a good plan

I so, I'd remake the following five USA horror films: I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE -- More exploitation than horror, but what the hell. Obviously Angelina Jolie would have to star in this film. And no body doubles, please. FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLFMAN -- The start of a new Universal classic horror series, this time in color. WHITE ZOMBIE -- R-rated and cruel. "Murder" Legendre lives again! (Production company: Please credit me if you use this idea.) DR. JEKYLL & MR. HYDE -- Again, bolder and crueler than ever before. Perhaps that guy who has been doing the SAW pictures can direct and bring his sensibility to the classsic. THE BLOOD OF DRACULA'S CASTLE -- Do this one right this time. Mirek

Del Terro mentioned wanting to do one...too bad he's probably backed up for the next five years on other projects. and...heck, i don't know. How about 'birth of a nation'? or maybe not.

What sucks is, it absolutely has to be a multi-million dollar production. And even if I were del Toro, I don't think I could get financing for it. It's got 'taste' issues.

I'd add FRANKENSTEIN'S CASTLE OF FREAKS (with Pauly Shore as the primitive neanderthal-like humanoid living in the woods), DR. JEKYLL AND SISTER HYDE done with tongue-in-cheek as blacksploitation and nunsploitation (Dr. Jekyll really turns into a 'sister'), and I still think that TWINS OF EVIL should be remade with the Olsen twins.. Its a great script idea, and I could see Robert Downey Crackhead in the lead role, and then you lace the film throughout with cameos by culty icons like Udo Kier as the stuffy art dealer, Bruce Campbell as a patron of the arts purchasing one of his canvesses (then later becomes a victim), Lance Hendrickson as the detective investagating, etc. etc. Last Edited By: paura nella 05/04/08 19:51:08.
