Posts: 211 (05/18/08 09:37:02) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	note that cinemathéque has now now added age limitations for some of the movies. significantly, LA COMTESSE PERVERSE / LES CROQUEUSES and LE MIROIR OBSCENE don't have age limitation even though they are listed as the French versions, so they might indeed be showing the movies in their original incarnations!, the fact that LA COMTESSE PERVERSE is listed at 72 min. (compared to the 95 min available French videos) reinforces this opinion. On the other hand, LES AMAZONES DE LA LUXURE (MACISTE CONTRE LA REINE DES AMAZONES) has been slammed with an age limitation which at first sounds strange as it is a very soft nudie flick as we all know from the 72 min. Italian print ("Karzan..."); but cinemathéque's print is listed as 84 min! So apparently, there was harder footage in this movie as well, and not only in its companion piece as it was assumed since now. Also significant is that 077 - OPERATION SEXY is listed at 93 min. This movie was indeed known to have erotic additional scenes in its French theatrical release under this title, but they had vanished in the 76 min. available French videos ("...Jamaique"). Other important aspects of this retrospective are that the French versions of RESIDENCIA PARA ESPIAS and CARTAS BOCA ARRIBA will be screened; these two movies had so far been available, as far as I know, only in their Spanish versions on video. This is a monumental occasion that I don't see happening many more times if ever again with this large of a scope.

I couldn't miss this opportunity!! I've been listening for a long time that SGAE (Spanish society of intellectual property rights) is planning a big retrospective in Madrid, including an updated filmography authorized by Franco, but until this day nothing happens... so we'll always have Paris Of course I'll be glad to post a report.

Posts: 11 (06/03/08 10:41:18) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	If you sort out the Franco retrospective by date of production there are only 2 films included between 1977 and 1998, Nevrose and Faceless. Have the French not yet discovered the Golden Films or was it just too difficult to get prints with french subtitles? Also missing are Lorna the Exorcist and Broken Dolls (a personal favourite). Most of the classier or less exploitational films are showing in the Salle Henri Langlois as opposed to Salle George Franju. So too is Sexy Sisters! Perhaps I should watch it again and re-evaluate it.
