Slight Chance I Will Be In New York This Friday Fourth of July |
Lead | |
|
I wouldn't hold my breath on it, but a CD distributer I do work for on/off for extra cash says he might need me to send me up there this Friday to go to
some warehouse if another guy he has flakes out on him due to the holiday. If I do end up going, I will have about 4 to 6 hours to screw around in New York
during the afternoon. Any New York Latarnians possibly wanna hook up for beer and Bratswersk for Lunch on the holdday to give a tourist a slight show of the
pubs?

Sure, if I'm available at that time. I'll send you an e-mail, Humberto.

Well, I'm more like a back up plan, so I won't know for a couple of days... but if I do end up going, Mirek, you definitly got to
show me were to get a good grilled NYC Brat!
Where do they have the fireworks as well? If I'm going to be down there, I might as well stay for the show! |

The fireworks are near me, on the East River. What's a NYC "Brat"?

Not to sound like some sort of regionalist, if there is such a thing, however if you want a good brat paura you need look no further than the greatest of all
cities; Chicago! Oh and Milwaukee which is probably the stinkiest of all cities!
Bratwurst is king there as is polish sausage. We have a huge population of poles that reside in the Chicago area. Man I can smell them cooking already! You know, both my parents claim a solid german ancestory, but how do you explain my grandmother's family's last name as Choyinski? I am sure there is some polish blood in the family tree. My dad's dad's last name was Voigt and my mom's dad's last name was Lange. I need to do some geneology. Haray Carey and the Cubs on t.v. and a nice 80 degree day in the burbs. !%#@! Here I sit roasting in the Arizona frypan. Oh and I guess I can't have harry carey...he's dead. Damn! However, best of luck paura in NYC if you go. Man I'd love to visit Mirek for sure. Second only to Naschy! Not bad ranking if I say so myself. HombreLobo44

Yep, Hombre, Bratwurst & Polish sass-age in the Midwest! And don't forget, the Brewers got those guys dressed up as sausages that race around against
each other...those crazy Milwaukeeans!

The only problem with visiting me is that if it's a humid day, I melt and my mind becomes numb. Despite being in relative good shape, I just can't
stand high heat and humidity outside and walking the city streets. I once had to take a cab from Kim's (a famous hip video/DVD store in the East Village
not that far from me), because I couldn't make it back home by walking. What almost gets me into worst shape is packed air-conditioned humidity, where you
sweat and can't breathe clear air in an air-conditioned environment.
What's curious is that when I was stationed in Panama in my army days, I didn't have these type of problems. Mirek |

Aw come on, Mirek! I'd take you anyday over a date with Julia Saly or the bukkake queen.

bgart should be able to attest to the sensuous flavor of our northern Illinois/southern Wisconsin brats and polish sausages!

Gil Ray,
it is a guy who distributes CDs over the intternet through Amazon.com from his home den. I do side work for him, wether its work aorund his yard, packaging up CDs, entering feedback data for him for his customers, etc. Whatever he needs done at the moment that he does not want to do himself, even if it's jusr cleaning his gutters or mulching his garden, or scrubbing down his grill (all of which I have done for him). But he did inform me by e-mail this morning his reguler guy is going. I think it was transport two large boxes of CDs to a warehouse space he's got, and file 'em away. He said it was cheaper and less of a hassle for him to just send someone via the China Town bus, early in the morning, and he would give that person pocket cash to spend an afternoon into evening in New York. I was the back up guy asked to go guy if he's reguler decided not to, because it was the Fourth of July. Am a little disppointed it din't work out. I was actually looking forward to a fireworks display up there, and checking out the famous Kim's Mirek has written many times over about. However, I didn't think I would be taking the Bus back if I stayed, and checked out Amtrak prices to discover it's only $68 to come back that night if I leave @ 11:05 PM. And only a three hour ride to boot! So I'm thinking I might take that trip on my own in the near future if I can put away a couple of hundred dollers spending cash, just catach a $25 bus down there (five hour trip) early in the morning, spend the day out there, and come back via train. ABout Bratsworth (seems there is a debate over probally spelling on the internet) , NYC is famous for those as well as Chicago! However, I did not get a chance to try one last time i was in New York (which was either 97' or 98', not sure which yeart, but it was the Fango Con with Paul Naschy), but I did get a famous NYC Pastrami sandwhich, which lived up to its rep! However, I was disappointed in the pizza... and did look for the authentic NY Pizza slice I have heard so much about. Only thing DC has a rep for, food wise, is the half smoke. |

Pizza in New York is not made by Italians any more, but by Mexicans. The best pastrami and other meat sandwiches came from the 2nd Ave Jewish Deli, a New York
institution. They closed shop at that place, but have opened up a new store uptown.
Humberto, too bad you can't make it, but I'm sure we'll hook up in the future. Mirek |

I met Mr Lipinski. It was a transformative experience. We had many batgrusks.

And I met Jojo. It likewise was a transforming experience, somewhat worrying in the beginning, I admit, as once I was inside his hotel room, Jojo began to
take several photos of me. My mind flashed back to any criminal activity I may have engaged in.

Hotel room? Photos? You must be mistaken. I thought we had agreed not to discuss this.
