Hmm.... I don't have a copy of PSYCHO to check, but does the latest DVD have these scenes?

Okay, I did more investigating and what we have in the States is the censored U.S. cut of the film, with those scenes missing.

I no longer have it to check as I got rid of all my VHS recordings a while back, nor am I sure the version I recorded was even it, but weren't those scenes
(the undressing scene I recall not sure about Norman washing blood off his hands) in the special extended version aired on AMC or TCM a couple three years
back?

Dunno, this is the first I have heard about this and would imagine if it had aired in the US we would have been posting about it here when it happened.
I gather Universal is reading a special edition ( maybe for a 50th Annv ), let's hope these frames are included. |

This German broadcast was a big heads up to most of us, although going through the posts on that german site and translating them, I think this has aired
before over there.
Even with these bits put back in I don't see where the MPAA gets off rating PYSCHO R these days. |

Well thanks for the info John.
Now we'll have to keep an eye out for TCM to play it...they say their films are all uncut. |

Did Hitchcock take them out?
If he did...did he take them out to please someone...I gotta know. |

On the basis of the screenshots, there is nothing new here that I haven't seen in a half dozen "Psycho" prints I've owned over the years,
including the recent "Hitchcock Masterpieces" box.

I looked over at Amazon's listings for runtimes in the UK and Germany. Two times are listed on different editions: 104m and 109m. The US Amazon has it
listed at 109m.
At this point of people worshipping at the altar of ol' Alfred, I'd think there would be something more to this story. I'm rather suspicious of this. But, I would be thrilled to see something new discovered about this one! Ben |

Here is that page but now in English.
http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=1921 There is a bit on this at Tim Lucas's Watchblog, there is no question that this material is new to North America and not on any DVD to date worldwide.

104 and 109 mns versions are exactly the same (for their running time I mean - they can have different editings of course) if one is in Pal and the other in
Ntsc.

That's what I figured, todmichel. But I thought it was odd that some of the listings at Euro-Amazons also listed 109m.
