Yes, you read that right. Code Red's blog gives some nifty screenshots from the disc, which features a proper (and impressive) 2.35:1 transfer and nifty
extras. Looks like in addition to supervising the new transfer, director William Huyck will be providing a commentary (with Gloria Katz). I'm so excited!

That post was made before the announcement that BCI would be no more. I still assume that Code Red will get distribution for their DVDs, perhaps from
BCI's parent company Navarre, but I've not heard anything official yet.

It would be a shame if this title was kept from release (for whatever amount of time) due to the colapse of BCI/Eclipse. There aren't too many American
horror films that I've more coveted a decent official release than MOE. I first saw it at a deep-south drive-in (The Marbro in Chattanooga, Tennessee)
during the very early-eighties and suffered through totally worthless VHS releases during the eighties VHS boom. I've got some hard-earned $ set aside for
this one. Bring it on, please.

but really, awesome news! i can't wait for this bastard to come out! now if someone puts out an anamorphic widescreen special collectors edition of Fantasy Mission Force, i can die happy. speaking of Code Red trailers, (well, we are now) what the HELL was that Visitor thing on the Beyond The Door disc? it looks like the most insanely goofball sci fi/gore/wtf film ever! |

I remember reading somewhere that Code Red's titles would still be released through the parent company. I don't recall much else, but I do remember
reading that Code Red's titles would not be affected. Also, I think it said that existing titles on the marketplace would remain in print. Not 100% sure on
that, though....

Don't know all that much about THE VISITOR myself (been avoiding all but the most rudimentary info in anticipation of this ideal screening), but I can tell you that Sam Peckinpah shows up in a bit part(!), and that the score freckin' rawks: Micalizzi's score for STRIDULUM was released on CD paired with the more elegant orchestral score for ETOILE.

Yeah it is a terrible transfer, but good enough that I want to buy the SE, for sure. I also wonder if their is better cuts during the final scenes. It looks
like something might be missing. I won't spoil it for folks.

I just watched this for the first time yesterday. I got it on a PD 50 movie set, the so called quality is not great. However, the movie is awesome and really
weird. It's got that cool, surreal feel, similar to that of Phantasm, although Messiah came first. It gave me the creeps and I watched it in the early
evening before the sun went down. I liked seeing Anitra Ford in it, she is always easy on the eyes. I positively was thrilled to see the Lovecraft influence in
the story, kind of like The Shadow Over Innsmouth. I hope a better edition comes out soon. I will pick it up. In defense of the 50 movie set I picked up, it
has a great selection of horror on it while acting as a great way to cheaply screen titles before dropping a lot of dough on them. Gothic is on the set as well
as Bell From Hell, Panic with David Warbeck and Witches' Mountain. Not too bad I'd say.
