We will be your source for in depth discussion of cult cinema, with a focus on film that matters: cult, grindhouse, drive-in, independent and underground film from the dawn of the talkies through the early nineties. None of that dreck that passes for (mainstream) film these days; this is all about the glory days of independent cinema (and major studio cinema too, when certain conditions apply to make their films of interest), from all over the US, Canada, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Indonesia, India, the Phillipines, Japan, Hong Kong or any of the hotbeds of obscure, oddball, or generally wild cinema available on DVD from the dawn of the medium to this very day. Just don't blame us if we focus on those filmmakers who are still going strong in the field of independent cult film as well! I have an impressive roster of guests who have agreed to be interviewed for the show already, including: Giovanni Lombardo Radice ("John Morghen"), star of numerous Italian cult films throughout the 80's to date. Arch Hall Jr., surf rocker, aviator, author and star of 6 memorable cult films well known to aficionados of psychotronic film. Tim Lucas, critic, author, and now screenwriter - the man behind industry standard cinephile magazine Video Watchdog and numerous liner notes for cult films released by Image entertainment at the dawn of the medium, and a massive critical biography of the great Mario Bava. Don May, Jr., fearless impresario behind Synapse Entertainment, the DVD label often referred to as "Criterion of cult" for its loving restorations of cult cinema from around the world that fans never thought would see release, much less with the red carpet treatment. Mike Raso, impresario behind Pop Cinema (formerly EI Entertainment, whose massive array of sublabels include Camp Motion Pictures, Retro Seduction Cinema, Shock-O-Rama, and Secret Key. Mike is a major force in the DVD release of 80's SOV (shot on video) cinema, and responsible for the restoration and release of numerous "lost" Joe Sarno films, among other highlights. Jon Mikl-Thor, Canadian rock star, title winning bodybuilder and film star, known for his old school, stage show driven band Thor and his unforgettable cult films Edge of Hell (aka Rock N'Roll Nightmare) and Zombie Nightmare. Tim Ritter, SOV auteur and mastermind behind the Truth or Dare series, who has already granted us an in-depth career length interview for At Eye Level back in November, will return for a similarly comprehensive discussion of the heyday of the slasher film, from the dawn of the 80's through the very early 90's, from two guys who know it best (Tim and I are both big fans of the genre). The lovely Katarina Leigh Waters, WWE's "Katie Lea", TNA's "Winter" and now host of the excellent Scorpion DVD line Katarina's Nightmare Theater will be on to discuss a bit of her career and the future of this exciting line. We have more folks in the works, but the above have all confirmed and interviews will be taking place over the next month or so, for airing on the Sunday feed. I have a few more tentative confirmations in the works from guests who seem to have dropped by the wayside over the last week or two, but we'll see what we can work up. I'm also re-editing some "live on air" interviews I did with Mark Polonia and Tim Ritter on the other show for airing on the new show - should sound significantly different, particularly in the case of the Mark interview (had some technical issues there, so it was a bit rougher than I'd prefer). I'm going to call them the "2012 edits" (LOL). Stay tuned, I'll keep you posted on new guests and upcoming shows!
