I'm with Luis on this as I'm perfectly happy with my AB tin box set, just way too many other things coming out in the next few months for me to double-dip.

I like the film, but not enough to own a second copy. One thing I wish BU did was stick trailer reels on to their bonus discs - the Blind Dead collection's 5th disc was almost empty - a selection of their trailers might have been enjoyable, and promoted a few of their lesser known releases. --- Mondo-Esoterica.net - Cult DVD reviews from Hammer to Spaghetti Westerns.

Posts: 39 Oct 10 07 12:11 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I watched this last night after having not seen it in some time and enjoyed it, finding it well photographed and acted. The farm equipment angle works well in the story and its fun watching Ray Lovelock attack a giant red piece of machinery with alarmed guys in lab coats fending him off. I also noted that Romeros NOTLD seems to focus on the individual being swallowed up by a faceless mass, whereas here the struggle is between 1960s youth hipster life and the old (unsympathetically portrayed) guard. A problem: I thought the pacing was too slow. In fact, only one zombie appears for the first hour or so, and its just possible hes not even a zombie, but a disgruntled guy who keeps trying to borrow a stamp or something. Or hes hungry for a sandwich. True, he has red eyes and tries to kill people, but I would have liked to see more zombies in the first half of the film. All in all, a good movie, although not my favorite zombie film, and doesnt seem quite as Spanish as I had remembered/hoped. Alex

Guthrie seems to be the only expressive zombie in the film. The expressions on his face as he kills and mutilates seem almost sadistic compared to the other zombies who (like Fulci's zombies eating Olga Karlatos) kneel, heads bent as they eat as if they were posing for some sort of religious painting.

Registered User Posts: 1416 Oct 12 07 3:27 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	If the new DVD is really made from "an original negative", it would be interesting to have a comparizon with the older edition, as I'm personnally convinced that at least two little cuts remains in this edition, one during the cemetery sequence (the old zombie woman gouging the policeman's eye) and the other when Ray Lovelock enters in the hospital near the end, a profile shot of the eviscerated nurse is missing (you can even "hear" the cut). This is based on my first watching of the movie, in 1975 at the Paris Festival of Fantasy and SF Films.

I've often heard about this missing scene, but have never read or heard anyone who has actually seen it. I doubt it is intact in this new Blue Underground version, as I believe we would have heard something about it before now, as that would be quite a revelation. Brant

Bear in mind that the "new Blue Underground version" out now is the AB port. The from-the-negative transfer is not due out for a while. After recent releases, it would certainly be in Lustig's favor to leak any noteworthy info to sway buyers. Since his STENDHAL SYNDROME disc seems truer to the film's original look (compared to the manipulation in the Blind Dead films), I'd be interested to see what he does with this transfer (he supervised the previous transfer which looked very natural given the mossy, foggy, earthy cold look of the film).
