There was excited talk some time ago somewhere, possibly here, about David Greene's THE SHUTTERED ROOM (1967), starring Gig Young, Carol Lynley, and Oliver Reed, so I watched it. I soon realized I had seen this one before, a long time ago, and had forgotten all about it, which is not a good sign. It is very vaguely an adaptation of a story that August Derleth wrote based on an idea H P Lovecraft jotted down on a napkin or somesuch, except it leaves out the supernatural entirely.
The sensational thing about the film, however, is that Gig Young's character appears to be wearing Adidas athletic shoes. Which prompts the following questions: When did Adidas introduce the three stripes? When did middle-aged men start to consider it appropriate to wear athletic shoes in other than athletic-type situations? Is this the right message board for these types of issues?
