There's a British PAL that's quite nice, released in set with I forget what films. (I think one was VAMPIRE CIRCUS)....

The British PAL set I bought was put out by a company called Hallmark and contained TWINS OF EVIL, VAMPIRE CIRCUS and COUNTESS DRACULA. Quality is excellent.

That 3 pack may be OOP but still seems to pop up on Ebay. The recent Network DVD looked terrific to me and the deleted scene is a hoot ( thank god they removed it from the movie ).
More info here on the extras( thanks Tim Young )...transfer seems to be the same as the Carlton. mondo-esoterica.net/Twins...0Evil.html |

I think Vampire Circus and Twins Of Evil are among the best films the company ever put it out. Although they came out when the company was on the down ward slide they are classic films that would be very welcome to any horror fans DVD collection

I think Vampire Circus and Twins Of Evil are among the best films the company ever put it out.TWINS OF EVIL has some of Hammer's best post-Jack Asher/Arthur Grant cinematography and has the most epic score of the Karnstein trilogy. VAMPIRE CIRCUS seems so much more mature in its handling of not only nudity but eroticism as well. This film and the exciting CAPTAIN KRONOS should've renewed Hammer, branching off into more adult (sex/gore) offerings on the one hand and more drive-in friendly fare on the other (with a couple pleasant middle of the road thrillers like FEAR IN THE NIGHT for the rest of the crowd).

re: Vampire Circus
I bet the two boys who got lured into the mirror-of-life never imagined never-never land would be like that! ; ) |

I wish the MGM Midnite movie series would carry both Vampire Circus and Twins Of Evil. They did a really nice job with Vampire Lovers and Countess Dracula.

Hiya Mirek, It's a funny story of how I got into the film biz..
Night Breed 1990,,,Clive Barker.....Pinewood..
got called down to Pinewood studios for a day from a 1st A.D. who said he wanted me to do some business..
Wardrobe dress me as a lumberjack type person and I go onto the set.. All I've got to do is fire a shotgun at a very small man (stuntman) who is dressed and made up as the Devil. (This is a horror film) (Easy so far!) I fire the gun into some bushes but miss the target. The director tells me to go forward and find the little devil. All of a sudden this little man (stuntman) has me around the neck and slings me over his shoulder and onto the floor.. (I'll have a quick word with the 1st A.D. as soon as I get my wind back).. 1st A.D.: "Sorry Aitch, I didn't know he was going to do that, the director said he was only going to get you on the floor so he can slit your throat" (Nice, and me with my first grandson (Marc) only a few weeks old). I said to him "You can't go slinging granddads about it ain't right".. 1st: "We're paying £150 for the job". "Sling away".. I tell him..."but don't cut my throat too deep I wanna have a swift half at lunchtime"…(I'm back)

Funny story. And you're everywhere.... Including THE SAINT!
Correct me if I'm wrong, Harry, but it seems from this distance that the British film and TV industry was really a bunch of "family-like" people working together--a lot of these people knew each other and worked together on a variety of projects. The crew/cast/etc of the early days of Hammer, for instance, are often spoken of as a family nowadays by people who look back on the experience. Mirek |
