I was reading an interview with Tim Burton in the new Rue Morgue a couple of days ago. In it, he mentions that Lee and another actor were cast in the film, and sounds like they even recorded songs in a studio to be used while filming. However, before filming got started, Burton and Co. decided that some things needed to be streamlined and Lee's part was cut.
