With upcoming Classic Horror box sets due out this fall from Columbia & Fox and the return of MGMs MIDNITE MOVIES series I was wondering what happen to Universal? There are still plenty of Univrsal Horror movies that need to release. Has anyone heard anything regarding any possible DVD releases from the studio that brought us our favorite Horror characters?

Just saw at dvddrive-in.com that both a Horror and a Sci Fi box set are due out this fall from Universal (see list below) which includes a couple of my long desired releases for DVD MAN MADE MONSTER and LAND UNKNOWN.
 On a bad note for me these are going to be Best Buy exclusives  and still no ISLAND OF LOST SOULS Horror Set: MAN-MADE MONSTER HORROR ISLAND CAPTIVE WILD WOMAN NIGHT MONSTER THE BLACK CAT (1941) Sci Fi Set: DR. CYCLOPS THE DEADLY MANTIS THE LAND UNKNOWN THE LEECH WOMAN CULT OF THE COBRA |

Wow, Koukol, if there were five Universal horrors from the classic era that I hadn't seen, I would certainly grab them! Especially if they're going to average out to about four bucks apiece. Of course it depends on how much you like old B&W films like these. I wouold saythat the two "MONSTER" titles are really excellent of their kind, but all five are fun.

Seeing how the price of last year's set has sky-rocketed because it's apparently now out of print I would suggest to buy these sets as soon as they are available.

The Sci Fi box set is due out next Tuesday (9-11-07) and even though it's a Best Buy exclusive they still don't have it on their lousy website.
I just hope Universal doesn't plan to release the remainder of their classic Horror films only through the clowns of BB.

thanks for the caps, LuisJ. Still without a computer at home, so I am relying on my infrequent sojourns to the library to catch up on the latest from Latarnia. I'll be looking for these sets at BB soon. There is a BB on the way home from work which is convenient. I especially want the Universal Horror Archive Collection for Captive Wild Woman and The Man Made Monster. Much anticipation as I have never seen either of these titles before. Thanks again, Luis.

Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to stop at Best Buy today. Judging by how my local Best Buy usually is, they probably don't have it yet anyway.

I was able to find it today at a BB in this little rural town I'm visiting family at. This is the one release I was willing to spend a little cash on today. They had two copies, mine being one of them! Watching CULT OF THE COBRA right now! Good transfer and sound, too! Very happy with it.

Well I left work late and exhausted and since there is no Worst Buy on my way home and with so many posters over at CHFB reporting an abundance of sets to go along with the ineptness of BB employees I decided to postpone my trip to Worst Buy for the weekend. Hopefully this wont be a mistake on my part.
