Here's a synopsis for The Machine Girl from the Fangoria article "Fever Dreams returns to Japan for MACHINE GIRL": "[The Machine Girl] is about a teenager named Ami who sets out for revenge on a gang of bullies who tortured her little brother to death. She winds up losing an arm along the way, and replaces it with a high-powered gun, la Rose McGowan in Grindhouse. But she doesn't stop at one limb; Ami continues to lose body parts and replac[e] them with more weapons." Posts: 287 (12/14/07 16:14:36) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	With regard to the widespread criticism that the character Ami (Minase Yashiro) in The Machine Girl is a rip-off of the character Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan) in Grindhouse, above is a set of vidcaps from Iguchi's 2006 movie Sukeban Boy (Oira sukeban ), which was based on the manga serial "Oira sukeban" by Gô Nagai. BTW, Unicorn Entertainment International Limited released Sukeban Boy on DVD (NTSC, region-free, English subtitles) in Hong Kong on February 1st of this year; the DVD can be purchased for only $5.13 U.S. from DDDHouse.com (Haus Ltd.). Here's a description of The Machine Girl from the YIFFF website: "The Yubari film festival regular, Noboru Iguchi, has made a splatter-action with blood, blood and more blood. Ami, a high school girl, goes wild after her brother is murdered, and the film follows her on her extremely brutal, non-stop serial quest for revenge. It has already received much attention worldwide, having been written about in magazines and on the internet. Ami is played by Minase Yashiro. Although this is her first appearance in a movie, she gives such a strong performance, that people are already starting to call her 'the splatter queen'. Gory as Hell and styled like a comic book. The Machine Girl actually only looses her arm to a samurai sword. She then has a gatlan gun and chainsaw attachments made. The scene in which The Machine Girl's arm is deep fried in oil with batter actually got to my stomach more than any of the other graphic stuff. The majority of the gore is rather cheesy CGI and post bloody model stuff, but it's all in good fun. The acting by the two female leads is over the top too and yet professional. She really gives it her all and I love how she attacks the baddies with her gatlin gun arm. She is sort of running at a full gait and hunched over a tad. Tough little gal. Cute as Hell too!
