Titles at Mondo Macabro's blog, and I've hunted down what detail I can at my MM Upcoming page.
Never heard of either of these before, but they sound very interesting... anyone seen a copy? |

I have Silip in my queue at Netflix since I am hestitant to buy it yet. Sounds like a real humdinger of a flick. Comparison to Cannibal Holocaust in tone has been made. I have read that there is a great deal of animal slaughter amidst the sex and brutality towards women. (As if that is not enough to make you squink already.) That may be a drawback. Anyone out there see this yet? My queue states that there is a long wait for this title.

This movie is masterpiece. No seriously, MM have uncovered a major, mostly undiscovered crown-jewel of international, transgressive cinema. After the Jodorowsky set, easily the best DVD release of last year.

Marshall - I've read conflicting things about SNAKE SISTERS. I saw a quote from Pete Tombs indicating it would reach stores in 2008, but then over at DVD Maniacs the guy who's making the WENG WENG documentary said it is still "up in the air". So, who knows? The clips at the front of the latest MM promo reel looking amazing, so I hope we do indeed get it soon.
Koukol - To each their own - HOLY MOUNTAIN and EL TOPO are my favorite films and I find nothing "hippy" about either. But you shouldn't let our differing opinions on Jodo prevent you from checking out SILIP. Although sharing a transgressive nature with those movies, SILIP is its own, unique beast. Rent it, if you still have reservations. |

Finally watched this movie and boy it didn't disappoint as it has one wild ending and best of all two beautiful Filipina babes in Maria Isabel Lopez and Sarsi Emmanulle who run around naked quite a bit.
  The bonus disc is loaded with extras and recently single again Ms. Lopez still looks hot in her interview session but too bad there's no interview with Emmanulle. Oh I can't wait till the SNAKE SISTERS DVD gets released. |

Yeah I read that the two female leads are quite attractive. Wild ending eh? Now I am really curious. So do you think it would be worth purchasing Luis? I have seen it over at my favorite local cd/dvd shop Zia Records. I ran across it while questing for Malabimba, which I snagged.

Now the last half hour is fairly intense and disturbing to make this a memorable film in my books. The DVD includes an option to view the English dubbed version but I choose the original Filipino language version instead and the extra disc has a few insightful interviews from the director and the main star Maria Isabel Lopez (a former Ms. Philippines) there was also a third interview with some other crew member who was so boring I forgot what/who he was. Another plus about the bonus disc is all the wonderful previews of Mondo Macabros awesome catalog.

In a recent subscription email from Mondo Macabro they revealed that SNAKE SISTERS is indeed coming soon, to be released after the next two (being QUEEN OF BLACK MAGIC and THE WARRIOR). Can't wait to see it!

finally got Silip from Netflix and indeed the ending is a shocker! Damn what a waste! Interesting film with lots of nudity and unfortunately a tad too much
animal slaughter. Still a strong recommend for all who enjoy a good love/ revenge/rape flick. The beach settings were sort curious eh?

I recently watched "Snake Sisters" on the horrible, HORRIBLE VCD release from the Philippines. A very strange film indeed. A restauration of this
title is urgently needed. Hopefully the Mondo Macabro disc will come soon.
