Tomorrow, for sure! I had seen IT'S ALIVE! some years ago and distinctly recalled it as being in the same "light and lilting" vein as the dread MANOS (yet another Texan attempt at horror that somehow deftly missed the mark). Still, when I spotted the Retro' double bill of this and YEAR 2889 (which I had seen years ago but as somewhat vague on), I figured what the heck. Worth the $10 I plunked down for it, and it's always nice seeing somewhat obscure titles become available. Still...

All I've ever seen is the still of the mutant in a tuxedo or bad suit. However after sitting through Mars Needs An Enema and Curse Of The Swamp Creature all I can say is ack!! I've seen NEEDS WOMEN and it is, indeed, awful. Being a completist is something of a train wreck. I see quite a lot of interesting material, but occasionally I wind up badly burned. Of the two films, the print of IT'S ALOVE is the better quality, which was a bit disappointing. I prefered 2889 to the former. Then again, I have thesame gripe in SW's dual disc of DEATH CURSE OF TARTU and STING OF DEATH. The ones I really have problems with seem to end up in better shape on these collection discs. Yep, the mutant makeup in YEAR 2889 is a bit mind blowing, with the spearhead mutant looking more like a fanged, dirty old man than anything else. Eviently natural mutation dictates long white hair and male pattern baldness as a key factor in survival. Who'd a thunk it?
