Amicus And Other British Production Companies
Glad to see something started aboout Hammer over here, but in the Spirit of the Latarnia forums, let's have a place reserved as well for some of the other companies around that was cranking out some good stuff from the British Isle through the 60's and 70's, such as Amicus which gave Asylum, Tales from the Crypt, Vault of Horror, I Monster!, And Now The Screaming Starts just to name a few!!!
ANd let's not forget Tigon British Film Productions Ltd. who brought us the classic Blood And Satan's Claw, The Crimson Cult and Michael Armstrong's Horror House starring Frankie Avalon!!!

Re: Amicus And Other British Production Companies
Ha, more work! I wish I could generate some enthusiasm for Amicus. Their anthologies don't impress me much, though I have a fondness for AND NOW THE SCREAMING STARTS and, of course, HORROR HOTEL. Tigon is a different story.
Perhaps I can add a general Euro/British forum that would include non-Hammer British stuff, French horror films, etc....

Re: Amicus And Other British Production Companies
Now now, Mirek...Let's not be too judgemental of Amicus here. AFter all, they have played a role in the history of British horror, and other cool stuff they did was The Beast Must Die, and even though it was an anthology, Dr. Terror's House of Horrors was excellant and done in 1965, seven years before Tales from the Crypt, not to mention it was directed by Freddie Francis. There was also some cool sci fi stuff such as The Dr. Who/Dalek movies and I have a fondness for At The Earth's Core.
Other cool independant Brit stuff that ranks amongst my favorites would be:
The Wickerman (1973) from British Lion Film Corporation which didn't deal to much in horror.
Psychomania (1971) from Benmar Productions who also co-produced Horror Express (1972) with Granada Productions. Psychomania starred Nicky Henson who was also in another British fave of mine The Witchfinder General (1968 ) from Tigon and Psychomania also featured Denis Gilmore from Blood On Satan's Claw and Tomb of Ligea (1965) by Roger Corman.
In fact, Psychomania has a pretty impressive cast and crew for a low budget B-Movie of it sature. George Sanders also stars along with Beryl Reid (Beast in the Cellar (1971)and (Dr. Phibes Rises Again(1972), and Don Sharp directs (Curse of the Fly (1965), Rasputin (1966), Brides of Fu Man Chu (1966) just to name a few).

Re: Amicus And Other British Production Companies
Everyone turns into stones at the end of PSYCHOMANIA. I love the film, only have it in EP.
It would be good to start a World Horror forum where I, for one, could talk about Poverty Row USA, Lugosi, Rollin, BLood Island, Asian, I would spend much time there. Please, Mirek, this is a much needed forum...
