Posts: 2551 (05/05/08 09:30:57) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Ok here's one of my favorite lowbrow Horror/Comedies of the 1980's, the plot is totally insane as a liquor store owner unknowingly sells a deadly alcoholic brew named "Viper" that results in those who drink it to explode and/or melt. Despite the film shot on a shoe string budget it looks and feels extremely professional and some of that credit should go to the acting of what basically is a cast of unknowns at the time. The comedic exchange by mobster Nick Duran (Tony Darrow) and the Doorman (James Lorinz) always leaves me laughing in stitches. The special effects of exploding and melting bodies may not be the most realistic looking but are some the sickest looking stuff ever splattered on screen. Are there any other fans of this film out there? Luis

It never fails to treat it's homeless characters as people, instead of harsh cardboard cutouts. The meltdown scenes are awesome....you can tell they went the extra mile, despite the low budget, on each FX shot.

Both the Synapse releases take pride of place in my DVD collection, along with the long deleted Midnite Movies UK release. "The comedic exchange by mobster Nick Duran (Tony Darrow) and the Doorman (James Lorinz) always leaves me laughing in stitches." Something that you'd think they'd carry over to Me & The Mob, however they're both wasted talents in that movie.

But after seeing it on vhs back in the day and thinking I liked it, I found myself oddly depressed by the whole affair and haven't watched the film since and may probably trade it in. Definitely some good meltdowns however. I just didn't find anything to root for. HombreLobo44

You also can't beat a good exploding fat guy launching chunks for hundreds of yards in all directions. Definitely a relic of the pre-political correctness era of home video fun. I still remember getting this one confused with Ralph Bakshi's STREET FIGHT (as COONSKIN was renamed) and making a fool out of myself asking him about it at a visiting artist lecture.

Yes that always leaves me laughing heck the entire film is a laugh riot. Regarding the DVD release I recall one of the cast members (Jane Arakawa) was M.I.A. and the Director had asked for help in locating her I wonder if he ever had any luck.
