Jim Clatterbaugh of MONSTERS FROM THE VAULT spoke to a Universal rep and was told that Universal is NOT planning any more releases from its Classic Horror
vault (except for a special edition of THE MUMMY). Universal is already working on its 2009 schedule, so things don't look promising for next year,
either. Worse, though not surprising to me, the rep admitted that there's little profit these days in releasing classic niche films. Will we ever see the
other two "Jungle Woman" films on DVD? I think so, eventually, but not in the foreseeable future.

That's a shame. Abandoning their original bread & butter for modern sh!t. I'm sure they're more interested in the whole Blu-ray crap too.
Perhaps something will change and they'll offer custom downloads or dvds, as Sony or some other company had mentioned a couple of months ago. That's a
real shame, since there's so many others left to release. Never seen THE MAD GHOUL...

It seems as if they don't really care about their films of days past. Sure they give the "big" ones constant re releases, but very little seems
to change except packaging. I loved getting a new vhs of the Monsters Classic Collection to get the card inside informing of the upcoming releases. The box art
was good too for those 1990's releases. Halloween just won't be the same without waiting to get the new releases. I am dissapointed in Universal.

As Ben has suggested, it may come to a point where these companies only offer these niche films as purchasable downloads. While it would not be the optimal way
to own these films, missing out on extras, cover art, etc., it would certainly be better than not getting the films at all. It would certainly make the films
more cost effective for the studios, since there would be no costs for packaging and pressing discs that could potentially sell poorly. However it works out,
the films are the most important thing, so I would be glad to just get them in some form of media or another.

Bummer. I was hoping their next classic archives release would include JUNGLE WOMAN,JUNGLE CAPTIVE,THE MAD GHOUL,MAD DOCTOR OF MARKET STREET,and one other
classic. Sigh.

My friend, Louis Jimenez, and I will be working on Universal Classic Horror Movie Archive, Vol. 2. The films:
The Mad Ghoul Mad Doctor of Market Street House of Horrors

I have all the Universal Frankenstein films on DVD except for SON OF FRANKENSTEIN, GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN, and (If you could refer to it as a Frankie film)
HOUSE OF DRACULA. I know SON and GHOST were once on a double feature DVD and I passed up on the opportunity to buy it when I had the chance (big mistake). That
DVD now probably cost several body parts from the graves, from the gallows, anywhere!

Actually, it doesn't cost much to get those original double-feature Uni monsters dvds -- they re-released them last Fall, I think it was. Should be able to
get them everywhere online, and in some stores too. HOUSE OF DRACULA, however, never made it to the double-feature line -- only in the Legacy sets I think.
That, and the Invisible Man "sequels", the Creature sequels and maybe one other film.

My collection of DVD's began years ago with the purchase of the Universal FRANKENSTEIN (1931). I saw it at a Circuit City store and had to have it. I
didn't even have a DVD player. For six months I kept the DVD without being able to view it. BUT I HAD TO OWN IT!

Yep, I don't blame people for going the"unofficial route" in obtaining whatever films they want. If Universal would rather this be the case, then
they've only shot themselves in the foot.
Trying to be positive though, just because we're not getting any further releases in 2008, this need not mean that Universal has abandoned theese old films FOREVER. If you think about it, it hasn't even been a whole year yet that we got HORROR ARCHIVES VOL. 1...

Well I went ahead and did it as I order up some grey market DVD-Rs of some Universal Horror classic flicks (including Paramount titles they own) that I've
been itching to see for many years. If the clowns at Universal ever get a clue and start issuing those old and missing Horror films again then I will gladly
buy them if I'm still interested in them when they do so.
