At first I thought this was a dvd, but it's a book. The product makes me think,"What the Hell is this about?"

I tried reading the plot description. Very weird, stream of consciousness stuff. No doubt a self-published work.

FACE OF THE SCREAMING WEREWOLF Movie. | ||

Now I know the film itself is one of worst butchering jobs the hack Jerry Warren ever did but having never seen it before I feel I should seek it out to view
the atrocity myself.

It must be his most atrocious butchering job, I agree, followed (or ex-aequo) with CURSE OF THE STONE HAND, when he "cannibalized" two excellent
Chilean movies of the late 1940s (both by Argentinian directors in exile) and the result was awful - as usual.

I've been told Warren had the audacity for taking credit of directing the Lon Chaney Jr scenes.

Sinister is listing FACE as a new release from them, and on top of that it's sourced from a 35mm print!

I have Face via Tracker3 from a year ago. I believe it is a vhs dupe. Fun stuff though definitely a really hackney-eyed chop job by Warren. The Aztec mummy is
even spliced in. The book by gage appears to be inspired by the film. I am sure he had to dig deep for that inspiration!

I enjoyed FACE OF THE SCREAMING WEREWOLF. It has the same type of retro patina that PLAN NINE FROM OUTER SPACE had with Lugosi, and Karloff's mexican
films. I'm always drawn to tragic characters anyhow. From Janis, Jimi, and Jim, Anne Sexton etc Randall

Quote: "I've been told Warren had the audacity for taking credit of directing the Lon Chaney Jr scenes."
I don't know if Warren himself ever told that; the mistake probably came from Rudolph Grey's book on Ed Wood, in which someone told that Wood filmed sequences of Chaney in werewolf makeup on the roof of a building - so some people thought that Wood perhaps filmed these scenes for the US version of the movie - but this US version was "produced" (!) by Warren, not Wood... In ANY case, ALL the sequences with Chaney (or his double, for some shots) that you can see in "Face of the Screaming Werewolf" ARE in the Mexican original, filmed in 1959, LA CASA DEL TERROR. A much better film than the Warren patchwork, incidentally. |

I haven't dealt with Sinister Cinema since the days of vhs. Are they still a fairly reputable company and timely with their delivering of orders? I recall
waiting a bit for my vhs copies back in the 80's. They have some decent titles it seems. One other question. Also, how is the performance quality of their
dvd-rs. I have only purchased a few dvd-rs in the past and some are quite jerky. Sorry! Off topic here...

Sinister Cinema's has some pretty decent looking prints but I have had some issues with some of their DVD-Rs as I recently purchased quite a few from them and most of the DVD-Rs have a reoccurring playback problem where the film (for the lack of a better term) "hiccups" which can get quite annoying. Perhaps they are using a low quality DVD-R or it's a problem with the transferring I have no clue but I've had this same issue with some DVD-Rs from other sellers which is why I hate having to resort to buying DVD-Rs in the first place but if that's the only way we can see them than what can one do? Ireally doubt an official release of FACE OF THE SCREAMING WOLF will ever see the light of day so I'm planning on trying out a source other than Sinister Cinema for the DVD-R of this film.

I finally got to see this film and oh boy what a surreal mess that was a bit difficult to follow and led me to snoozing off a few times totally weird and as far as I can tell all the werewolf scenes are from the Mexican film LA CASA DEL TERROR so no additional werewolf footage shot by Warren nor Ed Wood.
