I just did a comparison between the old Image DVD and the Encore set. Unlike Encore's otherwise exquisite set for RAPE OF THE VAMPIRE that stretched the
1.66:1 image to 1.78:1 instead of adding side mattes or cropping (never a good choice for a 1.66:1 film), Encore's 1.78:1 transfer actually reveals more
information on both sides than the 1.66:1 image transfer so it's neither cropped nor stretched. The Image transfer is superior in respect to its cooler
tinting (the Encore image looks warm which is nice in some scenes but looks wrong for the night exteriors - especially in the moat when Marina Pierro pulls
Francoise Blanchard out of the water).
What do you think of the two American actors in the film. The woman is kind of annoying but their dialogue sounds very naturalistic to me as an English speaking viewer amidst the French dialogue.
Blanchard has aged really well by the way if you look at the interview.
