Was Rollin's LES DEMONIAQUES ever dubbed into English? I've seen R-rated posters under the DEMONIACS title with posters that are too grindhouse for an
art film audience.

Yeah, absolutely. I saw the R-rated, English-dubbed version in an L.A. grindhouse in '86. It had, by that time, been retitled CURSE OF THE LIVING DEAD.
This version (probably from the very same print I watched) was released on VHS by Something Weird Video. I was told that the dub track was not used for the
Redemption DVD because it did not sync up due to the cuts.

I would like to have seen that. SWV also released the English dubs of the three Rollins acquired by Harry Novak's Box Office International (though they
only released REQUIEM FOR A VAMPIRE).
Their tapes of THE NUDE VAMPIRE and THRILL OF THE VAMPIRE (with additional footage) and CURSE OF THE LIVING DEAD (which I never knew they carried) are OOP but they still have REQUIEM as CAGED VIRGINS on VHS and DVDR (the used VHS I have is actually titled DUNGEON OF VIRGINS - I've also got the Best Film & Video version called DUNGEON OF TERROR paired with Box Office International's THE CHILD).

Does anybody know if the longer version of this movie was ever released officially anywhere?
Midnight Video once offered a longer print featuring additional nudity, which was cut from the Image and European DVDs on behalf of Rollin himself. Still, I can't accept this new version as "uncut"... As Midnight's version was missing some scenes as well, it would be so wonderful to see an integral version sometime. I think the Midnight Video version was in French with Dutch subtitles. |

I think the Midnight Video version was sourced from a legit Dutch VHS release. It did have two extra sex scenes, but the bad continuity (Coeur's eye makeup
is different) makes me think this stuff was shot separately. The films certainly works better without these scenes, but I understand the desire to have them.
The Encore DVD also reinstates one dialogue scene that was in the Dutch release but not the Image DVD.
