I don't think I've ever seen this one, but could be wrong. I definitely remember the vhs box at various videostores growing up, but can't recall
if I ever rented it or saw it on late-night tv as a kid. I know it's considered a classic by a lot of people, though. Anyways, someone posted a dvd of it
here, which is a composite of the English audio with a nice WS French broadcast (or something) of
the film. Probably the best it's looked since being in theaters, really. There's some ghosting from the conversion, but overall, this person did a nice
job with it. Claims to have done it himself, and seems to be telling the truth. Nicely done stuff.

Goood mad killer movie. I think it's some of the period pop songs heard on radios that have created a legal issue with this one. Definitely worth taking a
look at in spite of what Bob Monell might think of it.

Saw this at the Drive In and was not very happy with it as a teen, btu saw it remastered on vcable a few years ago and it was much better than I remembered.
It's got a real nasty edge to it, and an almost documentary style . |

Thought it was okay. Not great but not bad either. It has a couple tense murder sequences that seem to foreshadow the stalking scenes in FRIDAY THE 13TH,
which was made four years after TOWN THAT DREADED. Directed by Charles B. Pierce, who also made LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK, which is better, I think. Of course,
TOWN THAT DREADED was based on the true, unsolved serial murders that rocked Texarkana in 1946. It always creeps me out, reading about unsolved murder cases.

I liked this SOOOOO much better than BOGGY CREEK! It may have its slow moments, but as a true-crime story, it's well-done, the stalking scenes are
suspenseful, and I liked the small-town atmosphere that was so important to bringing this story to the screen. Charles B. Pierce is no master director, but
this is the best film he did.

I haven't seen this one. I didn't think much of BOGGY CREEK but I'd love to see both of these (and THE EVICTORS - my DVDR of the Greek tape is
partially letterboxed at 1.66 and partially squeezed) in widescreen (they were shot in Techniscope).

I haven't seen this film, but I recently watched BOGGY CREEK, for the first time, and was surprised at how well the movie worked for just having a guy in a
furry suit stumbling around.
In other words...I thought it was decently directed. Now I want to see TOWN. |

Well, this was AIP, so it's now in the hands of Sony. If they had not killed the Midnite Movie line we might have seen this come out sometime.
People need to see this....where else can you see Mary Anne from Gilligan's Island put through the ringer?

Return To Boggy Creek is bad beyond tolerance, don't punish yourself by even trying to find it. There is some camp value due to the presence of a moppetish
Dana Plato but I found the experience of watching it to be creepy in a way that had nothing to do with the story. The Burl Ives like singalong songs don't
help, I doubt if even the intended children's audience would get much out of it.
