It's a winner, even if you are not a Franco fan. Labeled a "garage-punk excursion," the cuts are reworkings of original music from a number of Franco films. Bruno Nicolai is well represented, and Danial White, too. My favorite number, though, is written by Mondosean himself, "La Ballade de Lina." This CD is, I believe, a limited edition--only 100 copies were pressed, so get it now before it goes OOP!!! My copy came with a Mondo Franco barf bag, with a super design! Excellent work, Mondosean! I Just got my copy of Mondo Franco and it is as wild and crazy as any Franco flick I've ever seen! First off, it comes with a freaking barf bag! It's beautiful! Holy crap, it's like it's rated V for violence or something... Being a longtime Franco fan and into the crazed filth of like minded bands such as the Cramps, this disc is basically the perfect music for someone who loves their music raw and sleazy! Plus the songs, like Franco's films, are pretty varied in their styles. There's something for everyone here- don't let the garage punk tag scare you away. You get surf instrumentals (the main theme to Female Vampire), maybe my favourite cover ever in Lucky the Inscrutable (love the original, but this takes Lucky up a step- it's so freaking fun!), the groove-a-delic Desade 70, the tribal White Cannibal Queen (it sounds exactly the same except it ups the raw rock'n'roll quota) and the impossible was done... Mondo a Go Go made that crap-tacular 80s relic song from Faceless ("Destination Nowhere" - I think that's what it's called) into a decent punk rock stomper- no small accomplishment!!! If you're a Franco fanatic, there's no way you can pass this up! All the jazz is there, it's just presented with a more upfront raw rock'n'roll approach. Highly recommended!!! Stay sick! Eric

You must hear the "rock'n'rolled" theme of Dracula Prisoner of Frankenstein to believe it. A stunner, that opens the album with a bang. There are also two songs in french, one of them based on LES CAUCHEMARS NAISSENT LA NUIT. This lovely spoken-word is reminiscent of the voice-over heard in this film and in UNE VIERGE CHEZ LES MORTS-VIVANTS. A very strong track ! Also, look out for the hidden track at the end of the CD. I won't spoil your surprise, but this is an excellent track, done with taste and subtlety. In my opinion, this album reaches far beyond the "garage rock" tag, even if it certainly knows how to groove when it's time to do it ! Congratulations to Mondo a Go Go for a great album.

It's far out, crazy, well played and I really recommend it. Whenever I've put it on, it gets at least two spins in a row on my cd player -- there's a lot going for it, and I honestly think that a lot of people, beyond Franco fans, would get a kick out of this. There's a lot of strong energy that was picked up on the album. Each tune flows into one another perfectly, too. I love that this was a thing done for fun and out of love for Uncle Jess and his movies, but instead of being sloppily done it's clear the band took their time to do it right. Really creatively arranged and produced. I hope that Sean and the guys get a chance for this to get picked up and distributed more. I know it was just a project done out of love for Jess Franco, but I do think it'd be worth it for a company to pay for the copyrights to the songs and get it out there more. The response from everyone that's heard the CD has been very positive and that's what's made the whole thing worthwhile for us. We played some of the songs from Mondo Franco for the first time at our show on Friday night in Glasgow. It was great to see the crowd go nuts during Dr Wong!
