Posts: 19 (04/10/09 16:32:47) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Hello everyone, haven't posted in a long time, when BCI went under it kind of took the wind out of the sails for me, but I've regrouped now and am ready to continue on with our love for Naschy, first off, I know it isn't very well liked here, but Klimovsky's Devil's Possessed is one of my favorites of all time favorites of the Naschy canon, I love the setting, Naschy would always tease us with a great medieval setting in the openings of his films only to cut to modern times after the intro, so the setting here is really cool for me, anyway, I have owned the Substance dvd for the last couple of years, which has terrible picture quality (probably sourced from a worn VHS) and decided to take a gamble and order the Tripictures dvd in the hope that the picture quality was better and I had the intention of making a custom dvd by importing the English dub from the Substance dvd and making a custom subtitle track as well, which I still plan on doing, ok, the picture quality is great especially when compared to the Substance dvd, I have taken some comparison screencaps for everyone to check out, it looks great, the image is very clean and bright and the colors really pop, there is only one problem with the disc and I'm hoping it's just that, a defect with the disc that I received, throughout the movie, usually when the camera is in motion, there is extreme visual corruption that will pop in and dance around the screen, it litters pretty much the entire movie and is very distracting, it would be terrible if tripictures released the movie with this terrible problem, if anyone knows anything I would greatly appreciate it, I bought the disc from xploitedcinema, so hopefully Anthony has another copy I could check out. Posts: 22 (04/10/09 19:16:36) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I've only checked it on my PC drive so far as it's the only region free player that I have, I even ripped the ISO to the HDD and the ISO seemed to have the same issue as well, in addition to the great Picture Quality, I was REALLY impressed with the tripictures packaging as well, gorgeous gate fold sleeve with booklet, really nice, xploited is out of stock at the moment, but I'd love to pick up the Tripictures Naschy Box set if anyone knows where to grab it, preferably from a domestic source.

I noticed that in the posted cap, the artifacting disappears at the black matte. The disc is fullscreen so the matting is not player generated. The overscan matting is added during the encoding process. If the artifacting does not appear on the matte in other scenes, it is likely that the artifacting is caused by one of the processing steps before the matting. If it occurs on the matte or occurs in different places on different discs or not at all on some discs, it could be an error during authoring. Anyone with more or professional encoding/authoring experience, please chime in (that doesn't look like the artifacting you see with low bitrate during pans). I would like to grab a copy of that boxset as well, even though I have the unclothed domestic releases of most of the titles, as well as the LA MALDICION DE LA BESTIA disc that appears in the set. That does look more like a defective disc than any authoring or bitrate issues and I don't recall reading about anything so distracting when the discs originally came out. Brant

This really looks like a defective disc to me. I am no authority however. I bought the La maldecion de la Bestia too from Tri-Pictures and it plays fine on my Phillips dvd player which I was able to hack to region free. I would probably try for another disc with Tony. Damn, I need to get this release also as the picture quality looks so much nicer. I always enjoyed the music in this one too and though the film lacks some of the standard sex and violence goodies we tend to appreciate in Paul's films, the historical settings and almost whimsical moments of swashbuckling make this a unique film in Paul's filmography. You are right however that many Naschy fans are not as appreciative of this film as it really never gets too dark. Thanks for the caps and info. One would think it would have been mentioned before if it occurred on other copies of the disc. This is obviously not one of Tripictures' HD sourced transfers but it does look superior to the Substance disc (the All Seasons tape source of which I thought looked quite nice before the Tripictures disc came out. Posts: 25 (04/16/09 02:29:29) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	So, my intention in the first place was to make a custom disc with the imported English audio track from the Devil's possessed DVD, but like I stated earlier after ripping the ISO to my HDD and mounting the image, it still dsiplayed the artifacting problem, I tried one last thinkg, since ripping the ISO removes the region coding, I decided to burn a copy and try it in my standalone Blu Ray player, and it played fine!! no artifacting at all, seems kind of strange that the ISO would also display the artifacting but a burn of the ISO on a different player showed no problems, well, this is solved, thanks everyone for your help and advice.
