I am a bit spoiled myself after those beautiful BCI releases and some of the Tri_Pictures stuff. However, since this title is not what I consider the most
beloved in my Naschy listings I can live with Troma's release and the price was definitely right. I can't lie when I say that I am far more filled with
anticipation over the upcoming PAL releases and even that German release of Asssignment Terror. My fingers are crossed that the prints for these releases are
gorgeous.

Koukul- I've had the same thing going on with them since May or so. They wont reimburse me. They sent 4 or 5 DVDs (it's from when CAT IN THE BRAIN came
out) to my old address, despite having my new one.
I shall never use them again, that's for sure. |

I got around to watching SWEET SOUNDS OF DEATH last around 3:00 am in the morning (couldn't sleep). It was much
better then I expected it to be, very atmospheric, and really dragged me in.
Something about the older Spanish horror really does contain atmosphere that has never really been recaptured. SWEET SOUNDS OF DEATH is one of those such films, and would make a great B&W late night double bill (in my opinion) with CARNIVAL OF SOULS, which seemed to car similer atmosphere (although an American film). Interesting to see VIC ISRAEL as a cemetery caretaker (like in GRAVEYARD OF HORROR) but that had to have been one of the most horrendous wigs I had ever seen on him. He looked like Peter Lorri. |

I got MESSIAH OF EVIL early from them, so I'm ok by them. So far. I think Amazon, Xploited and Diabolik are the only three companies that've been 100%
reliable for me so far.

Just watched The Hanging Woman and I totally agree with Naschy on this one,good movie but not great.
The scenes that stand out are all scenes with things that Naschy suggested but like he said "I was an actor on this one,not the director". Then watched SSOD (the composite John provided,thanks!) I was thinking that the version Troma put out could maybe be an alternate version? In any case in the composite John made there's 8 min! more but those extra minutes were very puzzling and confusing (and don't seem to make much sense really). The movie actually seemed to make more sense without them? Anyway I liked it and it's nice to have a longer version available,maybe I need to watch this again to understand the strange goings-on in the extra 8 min...

Hi all! Sorry if this has been mentioned previously, I may have missed it. I noticed that the drunken guard's whole "Liquid courage" scene is
missing as well as the part that follows soon after with Doris and same guard....I believe he either hiccups, or burps while talking with her? These are from
memory as they were some of my fave little bits in the movie. A bonus for me was the Nadia/vodoo doll bit, as I've never seen the Hanging Woman print
previous to this. Very cool.
I wish I could say I could get rid of the dvd-r I made of the Midnight-boot, but looks like I'll be keeping it. In trying to keep my expectations realistic with Troma....I was surprised at how decent this transfer looked....despite the darkness in the tunnels, and of the torching of Nadia and the butler(keep forgetting his name....Ivan?). I really do believe that this is a step up from what we would get from budget discs...and(imho) alot better than Midnight's boot. I also believe it was a labour of love from all those involved, despite the obvious sloppiness. That, to me, is really why this missing footage stings so hard. I will have no trouble double-dipping should a superior version eventually surface as this is my fave film with Naschy. Take care!
