OR, phrased another way, the only other release of this film I have seen that beats this Greek tape is the MV Japanese subtitled transfer, which by the nature of the technology used results in a somewhat better picture when viewed from their DVD-R.

Whatever you paid for it was worth every nickle, and I'm delighted to see evidence that this complete 94m English print "got around" and may still be out there for someone to make a DVD of.

What exactly ARE you looking for?? You have a version that is as good as any available; Enjoy it!! The rest of us have given up hope on this film, something that you should take note of before theorizing yourself out of even more money & setting yourself up for a disappointment. We wish you the best, but dude, there are other movies out there waiting for you to look into them also. The well on RETURN OF THE ZOMBIES is pretty much dry, though I will admit being surprised that your Greek version turned out as good as it did. Watch it to death! It's a fabulous score.

You won't find an LBX video cos it was shot in fullframe. The reason that VSOM likely has the version they do is that it was the first 94m transfer they could find that didn't come from Midnight Video: If there was anything special about it, you'd have heard about it right here already. Trust us!! :--D

And always remember: If the film was made before 1978, the Spanish version won't have the nudity. If you are looking to restore the two into a composite I could sort of see the point. Is that what you're after?? If so then concentrate on finding a Spanish language release; don't bother with a Venezuelan tape dubbed into English and subtitled in Spanish. Like, heh, you've already got one just like that, but with Greek subs. ONE IS ENOUGH!! :-D

Unlike WEB OF THE SPIDER, as an example, I seriously doubt you are going to find a better or alternate version than either that wonderful Greek tape or MVs DVD-R: The two films were made under very different circumstances. WEB had hundreds of thousands of dollars, an Oscar winning composer and a huge star sunk into it, and was made to exist in different forms for different international markets & language regions, not just a covered Spanish version and an uncovered international print.

RETURN OF THE ZOMBIES is by comparison a rather small production made on a low budget by an ensemble cast. What you've seen is pretty much what there is, even though it might be more fun to hope otherwise. There will be a Spanish version that is complete but with covered takes, and then an international version with uncovered takes existing in various forms of incompleteness, dubbed into various languages and under a jillion different titles ... which is exactly what you see when looking up the title.

Another great video store idiocy story ... It's sad that most of the people who worked in them during the good old days were almost always non-fans just looking to make some easy part time money. It'd be fun someday to be rich enough to run a rental shop for fans done the right way, with knowledgeable staff who each have their little area of expertise. The movies offered would be what the people who work there think are cool rather than the usual general barrage of dicknoise BS, though you could always do special orders for purchases of specific things people wanted to find. We could even do a vintage VHS only section and due to the scarcity of machines have a few players available for rental, just like the good old days! If done right and with attention to detail in making sure that there really is something for everybody no matter how twisted, it would be mad fun and could become a hit in the right area like near a university. Heck if you made sandwiches and sold beer too it could be a one-stop Mecca for Friday night nerds who hate bars. You could even have like an in-house viewing section with some tables and a sofa or two ...
