X - 6/18-6/20 (gonna try for one show, esp since Exene has made it known she's been dx'd with MS) The Gories & The Oblivians - 6/27 American Music Festival -- but only if The Blasters make it - 7/3-7/4 Jesus Lizard - 7/17 (probably won't go, but...) Apocalypse Hoboken - sometime in August (Chicago punk band that I've been into since the early 90s) Nothing else so far for the summer. I'm not a hipster doofus or indie kid and not into metal, so there really isn't a lot for me. I'll keep an eye on things, but my hopes are rather low. I learned a long time ago that my taste in music doesn't come around Chicago so much anymore. Will likely pass on Screeching Weasel in October, although the prospect of seeing the Dead Milkmen once more is rather enticing, hee hee... (at that goofy Riot Fest). Saw Ida Maria last week at a nifty free radio sponsored gig. Then I have in hand tickets for Moe July 25/26 @ hampton beach, nh and Bat for Lashes August 13 paradise, boston Getting tickets is such an enormous hassle for many shows, I tend to wait and scoop them the day before or day of ( especially for those things that sell out in 20 minutes ) off craiglsit or check TM through out the day as they release seats ( usually BOH ). But not alot grabbing at my wallet this summer compared to most years ( at least so far )

Had a wedding and was too exhausted from the hot and humid weather to muster any interest in seeing them. Prior to that it was a couple of years previously and that was Opeth. So go ahead and chuckle but Yes and Asia are playing together at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix next month and I would sure like to see that one. It's like a geriatric love fest! Blur is playing shows again with the original guitarist in England lately. I'm hoping to jump across the pond, even though they were mostly ignored here. With the exception of Song 2, that is (that's the "woo hoo" song). Might go see the Dead Milkmen after all. Seems they might be playing a one-off in Chicago besides the -- sigh -- Riot Fest. My gawd, what terrible pap those kids make. Green Day was....well...I dunno what to say. Uninspiring perhaps is the word. Of course, I haven't really dug them in, cough cough, ten years maybe -- and I don't think I was really "digging" them at that point anymore. The early 90s was when I got into them, and while I thought they were alright, I didn't think they were as great as some of my friends thought. But, as far as last night -- it was just totally inappropriate for them to be an arena band. Talk about weird. The kids -- and their parents -- seemed to dig 'em enough at least. Best thing they did was bringing kids up on stage with them to sing whole songs and/or play guitar (one kid came up and played a whole song on guitar and was actually pretty good -- he was probably about 10 years old, Billie Joe was pretty thrilled about that). Oh, and I didn't pay for it. A friend called me up yesterday morning and said her friend from NY was doing sound for The Bravery on this tour, and he left her two tix. Registered User Posts: 3830 Jul 14 09 3:31 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	yeah, Green Day is playing Cox Arena down here next month. i considered going although i really only liked Dookie (and the last two are AWFUL) but the tickets seemed much too high and there's not one good seat in Cox. their early stuff is really good, probably the best of it's type (pop-punk for lack of a better term) but the recent power ballads and concept albums? come on guys...

They are not a horrible band but as Mr. tee hee says, a tad uninspired. I would take Insomniac as my fave. Of course it's Brain Stew and Jaded that got me hooked on that one. Nimrod had that gorgeous tune Good Riddance with the cellos and Hitchin' a Ride. CEO of The Azucena Hernandez Appreciation Society of America.

Registered User Posts: 3830 Aug 12 09 2:07 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	so, the real season is about to start. i actually got to see The Mighty Boosh at The Roxy...totally out of the blue and totally amazing (and free) Depeche Mode is back on, the wife convinced me to go with the cheapy seats. opening band is Peter Bjorn and John (gag!) that's this friday. next week no shows, but Chan Wook Park's Thirst plays the Ken. the week after i got Friendly Fires AND The National. also, met the guy who books shows for a place called The Glass House. he put me on the guest list for The Horrors, so i'll be seeing them in september AND october aaaaaaaand....haven't got tix yet, but planning on seeing The Pixies in november. not really a fan myself, but the wife likes 'em.
