I watched "Curse of the Devil" tonight, which has always been my least favorite of Naschy's films. This time through I couldn't see why, it's such a marvelously sick little fairy tale. If that's the least of Naschy's films then one can genuinely say that he never made a bad movie.

Like you Squonk I recently watched Paul's Curse of the Devil and it just has gotten better over the years. I will be home this morning watching probably El Retorno del Hombre Lobo as I try to accept that the actor I love the most has moved on. It wont be easy. We spent a lot of time at that place, both while he was working and on his day's off, and that's where I first saw FRANKENSTEIN'S BLOODY TERROR. We were both mesmerized and many more of Paul Naschy's films found their way on that giant screen, with my friend and I thrilling to each scene. Jacinto Molina had become a hero to us. He still is. Poetically, there's a full moon tonight and I watched FRANKENSTEIN'S BLOODY TERROR again, thinking about its great star and already missing him terribly. Rest in Peace Waldemar. Martin

Deepest condollences to his family and friends. I am very happy to know that at the end he knew he was appreciated and celebrated. While Waldemar Daninsky is his most famous role, I will always remember him for his memorable portrayal of Alaric de Marnac. "Chilly Billy is my name. Chiller Theater is my game. It seemed like an obvious choice, with the full moon and seeing how it was one of the first movies to introduce me to Naschy (under the BLOOD MOON title). It was entertaining as usual, but I couldn't help but feel bummed out by the fact that this talented actor/director/writer would no longer be giving us any more of his wonderful fantasies.

Registered User Posts: 295 Dec 2 09 11:09 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Paul Naschy was for me, one of the the last icon of Fantastique Cinema (the other one is Christopher Lee but Mr Lee never had the passion of the genre as Mr Naschy). Every time I read about Naschy, working on a film project, I felt a little excitment knowing the passion he put with all his involvements. He gave us so much.... Thank you, Jacinto ! Horror films is already, almost, a thing of the past for me.....Naschy's death is another step over the death of a genre, an era.

We may have a Friday Night Paul Naschy film time with some beers. The hand of time gets us all. He has left a mark of greatness for us. I am so glad to have known of him, and collected the films of his I have. He's right up there with Boris Karloff to me.

I'm still shocked about this all, especially since we have been getting so excited and ready for new dvds and two upcoming films of his. It seemed like the momentum of his career was still increasing. A shock. A shame. But he deserves much respect for the way he lived his life the way he wanted to. Cheers to you, Jacinto Molina. I am happy that he was able to live long enough to see this recent groundswell of appreciation for his art and got a sense of what he meant to so many, and grateful for the irreversable effect his fantasy films have had on me. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I watched ROJO SANGRE last night in honor of him and it has to be icing on the cake as far as his career goes the film was a top notch production but still my favorite Naschy films will be the exploitation era films from the 1970's the movies that made him a horror icon. When I was 8 years old, I use to re-enact the wolfman transformation scene from Frankenstein's Bloody Terror with my dog, Saber in the backyard. I was Waldemar, and Saber was Rudy. I watched Human Beasts yesterday afternoon in his honor, and Vengeance of the Zombies this morning over coffee at 5:30 am in the morning.

I met Paul twice and he was a gentleman and a true legend. Our condolences to his family and friends, from the UK. We are totally distraught but let's hope his legacy lives on as the only true star of Euro-horror. RIP El Hombre Lobo
