They look terrific, I've been trying to record as many as I can fit on my DVR. I'm really not too familiar with anything past the first Timothy Dalton film, so some of these are new to me. I had forgotten how bad some of the later Roger Moore films were. Moonraker, yikes!

Ah, I thought something looked a little off, but I'm no expert on these films. Well that sucks. I'd rather buy the DVDs in proper aspect ratio than have these HD broadcasts that are cropped. With Craig though, I am reminded on how each Bond actor has been tailored for their generation, pretty much. Sean Connery wasn't the book Bond, but he won over through sheer talent and natural charisma. DR. NO must truly contain one of cinema's finest breakout performances. George Lazenby wasn't given much, being thrown in head first, but I found him to be very much in step with the year that OHMSS came out. Roger Moore was very much a 70's Bond. Tongue in cheek and always given the older man/young ingenue scenario. Moore never took the character seriously anyway. I thought he always saw Bond as over the top and that informed his performance. Still, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY was a highlight. Timothy Dalton was ahead of his time. Suave, but also rough when the moment called for it. Very misunderstood at the time, but in light of the recent ones, i think his era is going to be looked upon with more open eyes. Pierce Brosnan was the best combination of what Ian Fleming saw and, unfortunately, what the producers wanted. GOLDENEYE was a great start, but sadly he got worst and worst scripts foisted on him. The Madonna song on DIE ANOTHER DAY is one of the worst title songs ever, considering the imagery shown. Daniel Craig is Bond for the Bourne generation. Of course, I should say movie Bourne as that's another series that differs quite a bit from the books. Craig's a good actor, but lacks the refinement that we expect in Bond. Yes, he could certainly pass for a member of MI6, and also for an assassin. I can see him blending into a crowd. I was hoping they'd smooth at least a few rough edges, but I'm not seeing any evidence there. I can't say I love his Bond, but I do like it, when I take into account the various factors at play. CASINO ROYALE was a strong opening, and if QUANTUM OF SOLACE stumbled, writers strike was partially blamed, let's hope SKYFALL picks Bond up again. So far, the teasers have been just that.
